Here are the key points of the new rules that will apply starting April 1, 2026. For more info, check out this web page of government Main new hunting measures
Beginning in fall 2026, the Ministère will associate the calf with the female under the designation “moose without antlers” (MWA) in the regulations. This change will apply throughout the province.
A new MWA hunting licence will be required to hunt this segment, thus ending the system of alternating permissive and restrictive years. To obtain this licence, hunters will have to take part in the draw and be selected. The MWA licence will be valid for the territory of a zone, a subzone, a zec or a wildlife reserve. The hunter must also hold the regular moose hunting licence in addition to the MWA licence. Hunters may still purchase annually, without a draw, their regular “Any-zone Moose” hunting licence, which authorizes the harvest of an adult male moose in the hunting zone selected at the time of purchase.
The MWA licence may be shared among members of a hunting party. An authorization from the licence holder must be provided to the hunters with whom they agree to share their licence.
Certain moose hunting periods and certain hunting implements have been modified. Among other things, the periods specific to muzzle-loading firearms have been removed.
The sale of natural moose urine is now prohibited, as is the case for all other cervids.

The possibility of harvesting two deer in the same zone has been extended to zones 4, 5 East, 5 West, 6 North, 6 South, 7 South, 8 East, 8 North, and 8 South, provided that only one adult male is harvested.
The harvest limit for white-tailed deer, outside of zone 20 (Anticosti Island), is two per hunter per year from two different zones, except in zones 4, 5 East, 5 West, 6 North, 6 South, 7 South, 8 East, 8 North, and 8 South, where you may harvest both deer, only one of which may have antlers, within the same zone.
Certain rules apply:
Both the regular permit and the supplemental permit allow you to harvest one deer outside of zone 20.
Your first deer must come from a zone or part of a zone other than zone 20 (Anticosti Island). Once you have harvested your first deer, your second must come from a different zone than the one where you hunted, excluding Zone 20. This requirement does not apply in Zones 4, 5 East, 5 West, 6 North, 6 South, 6, 7 South, 8 East, 8 North, and 8 South, where you may harvest both deer, with a maximum of one antlered deer, within the same zone.
For more information, see the White-tailed deer hunting.
Proof of completion of the wild turkey hunting course will no longer be required to hunt wild turkeys.
